Le tablier repose sur deux poutres caissons de 200 tonnes chacune, les culées reposent sur des fondations par puits ancrés appuyées et plaquées contre la maçonnerie des murs du quai, il dégage entièrement la voie d'eau. Ce pont est un pont sans obstacle pour la navigation. Mais ne pouvait on habiller, décorer, camoufler ce bandeau dans un Paris riche en œuvre d'Art ?
