I've been sent the following list of canal closures by Karl Unger.
I'll ask him if he can be a bit more specific about the dates, in the hope that the whole

We've had some further information from the Barrow. John Sexton writes
===begins=====
Most things are in great order in spite of normal Summer levels. Boats with a draft of
more than 24in may touch the bottom cill in Bagenalstown, I draw 24in & had to let a
little water in to float me over the cill into & out of the lock. By all
accounts the fishing is good this year on the Barrow, also Leighlinbridge, Bagenalstown
& Goresbridge are all very clean & tidy & welcoming, all very encouraging. The
pool in Bagenalstown is great, right alongside the river, heated, openair, clean, toilets
& hot showers & changing rooms all spotless, excellent for anyone reluctant to
swim in the river.
===ends=====
And Declan Timmons reports from around Carlow:
>1. The Boat club is undergoing renovations so there is only half the mooring space
available there. I am told the work will take at least two months and mooring there will
be restricted during this time.
>2. There are mooring bollards available at Graigeucullen park ( almost directly across
from the boat club ) however there is a lot of silting at the head of the island there and
the moorings should be approached with caution.
>3. There are obstructions in the river:-
> Below the lock at Carlow, two large concrete bollards.
> Below Clogrennan Lock, a submerged fishing boat, close to the island side approx 10
metres from the lock.>
>4. Fishing and other boats are being moored for long periods at the new jetties above
and below locks along the navigation. I have had complaints from customers who could not
get access to the jetties to disembark for the lock.

Arnie Poole (Valley Boats, Graiguenamanagh) reports that Barrow water-levels are low and
that three "new" rocks have been found:
># 1 At the southern end of Aughnabinna island, Map 10
># 2 At the Gas pipeline "diamond" marker below the River Lerr, Map5
># 3 200 M above underwater weirs below Carriglead lock, Map 21
Arnie says that boats that draw max of only two feet under way have hit these rocks.
Waterways Ireland has been notified.
